[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] inaugural mail on the new hammond list
Greetings one and all.
I *think* I have this distribution list in place and working now, but
it's hard to be really sure. The list is setup as a mail alias on my UNIX
workstation and I had to do a few cute things with sendmail to make the
replies work right. Hope I didn't screw it up.
In a perfect world someone would set up a list server or some such to
manage this list, and anyone who'd like to do that has got my undying blessing
and cooperation. Meanwhile, I've jury-rigged this setup. Please be patient
with it.
You now should be able to send e-mail to:
hammond@swanky.zk3.dec.com
and have your mail go to all the addresees on the distribution list
(fingers crossed). I tried to set things up so that when you do a "reply" to
this message, your mailer will insert the distribution list address into the
"To:" field, rather than the name of the person who sent the message. If you
have automatic "cc:" setup when replying, be sure you don't "cc" the
distribution list as well as replying to it, or we'll all get 2 messages.
So far there are 18 of us on the mailing list. The only guildline I
propose for list use is that whatever we discuss be related to the Hammond
sound, at least tangentally. My purpose in starting and maintaining this list
is to have a forum through which people who love the Hammond sound can share
information, views, reviews, advice, references, opinions, etc. Also, I
really must insist that all list members treat each other with respect and
consideration always.
If people feel the urge to introduce themselves to the list, please go
for it and include your best e-mail contact info, what gear you play, and what
your expertise is (presuming that you're willing to answer occasional
questions in that area).
