Percussion for Hammond CV

I have been asked what it would take to install a percussion unit in a 
Hammond CV.
Unfortunately, I live in an area where the nearest Hammond service expert is 
hours away.  So...I am wondering...have any of you actually done the work 
yourself, and would it be reasonable to suggest someone with minimal-nil 
skill/background could attempt this?  Also, am I correct in assuming Trek II 
is the best or only place to acquire the goods for such a modification?   I 
live in Canada, EH! so a supplier north of the border might be cheaper, if 
such an outfit exists...
