Yes, this is true.  The 12BH7 single ended transformer output of the B-3 
preamp adds a lot of distortion if you load it down.  Turning the pot on 
the Leslie amp down deceases is input impedance alot.  The input impedance 
of a Leslie amp varies from 20K to 120K depending on the position of the 
input attenuator.  Peter Miller out at CAE in San Mateo, CA has made a 
detailed analysis of this phenomenon.  Hope this helps.
