I replaced all those caps. I did it the wrong way and got samples from
a capacitor maker in 1% values of the ones specified in the manual and
simply put them in. Of course, if were a right-thinking-engineer i
would have measured the inductance of each and every inductor and...
well, you get the idea. The originals were matched to each inductor in
the factory and the values used were not the ones stated in the
manual. The ones i removed, wax/paper jobs, were all at least twice
the value stated in the manual. Anyway, my replacements sound
fine. The tones that have upper harmonics are the ones that are not
filtered. Someday i may want to redo it but for now i'm satisfied just
the way it is.
The low harmonic that is audible, sometimes several octaves below the
fundamental gives it that low rumble or whatever you call it that i
like so much.
When i got the caps i was prepared to buy them. When i told the
application engineer that i was rebuilding an organ he said "Organ?",
"Hammond organ?", "B-3?". Yes, yes, yes. "I use to play in a rock band
in the 60's. I love those things. Let me just sample them to you."
"Okay, sure", sez i.

Boy! You really are a hardcore fanatic!
