[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Dr. L. Smith story
I tried to send this out yesterday, but my server was not working reliably. Sorry if it's a repeat.... >it was nice to get out with the herd, but it wouldn't surprise me if >that's the last our little town will ever see or hear of dr. lonnie >liston smith. Who is Dr. Smith? I imagine he is a blues organist, but I have to plead ignorance wrt his music. Our paths crossed recently, and it's funny that I now read about him, not knowing who he was when it happened. About 4 months ago I went to look a "B3 and Leslies" for sale at a church a few miles from where I live, (Easton,PA). To my suprise, it actually was a B3, (9 times out of 10 it's a BV, BC, B2, M3....), and it came with a pair of Leslies. I'm in the middle of negotiating a very fair deal, when the seller gets a call from a man in Florida who wants the organ, sight unseen, full asking price! I'm sweating bullets at this point, so I fall to the floor, screaming "Mercy, We had a deal....." Thankfully, the sellers were extremely nice, and ended up selling it to me, rather than a Dr. Lonnie Smith.... I guess the least I should do is get an album or two of his. Any Recommendations? RM
