Is it possible to transpose the lower manual on an M3 down one octave by re-wiring the key swith assembly? Are the neccessary tones available from the bass pedal wheels? Could you just re-wire the switches going to say the top drawbar to add an octave lower than the lowest drawbar (provided that the tones are available)? How are the bass tones generated? I know they consist of more than one harmonic. Sounds like there is a second in there but they come on simultaneously when you slowly depress a pedal unlike with the keys where the harmonics come on sequentially. Are they produced by single wheels whose magnetic characteristics allow additional harmonics? Are the switch assemblies soldered point-to-point or is there some other technique involved? Ken Williams
