The V3 is a new single rack space organ module from Voce which is
reported to be the closest module to a tonewheel hammond sound yet, it accepts
live MIDI drawbar input, has full double manual polyphony and has a high grade
leslie simulator built in. It will ship in mid-May.
Dave Amels, a honcho, principle designer, support guy, marketeer, etc.,
etc., for Voce a is also a very knowledgeable life-long Hammond/Leslie
player/fanatic and a subscriber to this list. We're trying to talk him into
building a double manual drawbar B3-type clone using the V3 for guts and
modeling
the tonewheel hammonds in keyboard, drawbars, etc. Voce has done some very
impressive clone products to date and with Hammond Suzuki charging a bazillion
bucks (actually around $18K US) for the XB-3, many of us would LOVE to see Dave
come out with a high quality B3 clone for pro musicians at a real world price.
And as long as I'm asking Dave for a B3 clone, I'll tell him it'd be
nice
if the manuals had some basic controller functions with a split option and with
the drawbars and chorus/vib/etc buttons sending MIDI too. It'd be cool to play
piano/strings/horns from a synth module with drawbar expression control for
strings/horns/etc on the lower manual and a howling B3 on the top! Many of us
have to schlepp around two keyboards for live gigging anyway, this one could be
two in one!
