> Leslie 900 tone cabinet w/combo deluxe preamp pedal and covers for around > $600. The owner claims excellent condition.> I am not an expert, but I recently bought a 760 for $300. It was in pretty good shape, but looks like one of the motors needs replacing or a repair. Perhaps my experience will be of some use to you. I did a very intensive prebuy on the unit, removing the back panels, speaker, and motors. I knew what I was getting. It was stored for 6 years after heavy country and western (?) use. It was quite filthy, but all the parts were intact and it was not too beat up. I am now (slowly) going through it and fixing what needs fixing. If you have not seen the Leslie, expect it to be less than advertised. That way you won't be disappointed. If it's really in excellent shape, and everything works, it _might_ be worth $600. Take the backs off and check the insides for general condition. Run the motors and observe their action and listen to them. Ask if they have been serviced recently (ever?). Do the rubber tires on the fast motors have a sharp ridge on them on them or are they circular; if ground to a ridge plan on replacing them. Check the condition of the belts too. Play an instrument through the unit (preferably a Hammond) and listen for sounds indicating the driver/speaker are blown. The driver will buzz and the speaker will sound scratchy and rattle (personal experience). This is different from preamp distortion. If you do buy it, get yourself a service manual. Check the FAQ for suppliers. Be prepared for a learning experience. RickP@Tyrell.Net
