[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Re: Effects of Humidity
I purchased (stole) a cherry condition 1963 vintage B3 w/22 Leslie for $500.00 a few years ago and experienced some humidity related problems early on. The problem could have possibly been with the transformer in the pre-amp. Older B3's have the silver colored transformers. The problem manifested itself as a fuzzy (dirty) sound, even at low volume. It happened during an extremely hot, humid, rainy day. I ran the air conditioner over night and the sound cleared up. It only occurred a couple of times after that and each time it was during an extremely humid day. The organ has not been moved from the controlled environment of my living room for 3 years now and the problem has not re-appeared. A phone conversation with Al Goff revealed the possible culprit to the fuzzy sound problem. The guy is amazing, I live in Pa. and he diagnosed the problem from Conn. over the phone. Dave Kalil
