Re: B3 cache found...

Mark's cache find reminded me of an experience:

Back in 1976 I had just purchased a used, cut-down C3 and I wanted to
get an idea of how old it was. I walked into a place called Altenburg
Piano & Organ in Elizabeth, NJ to see if I could find someone who knew
how to date it based on the serial number and such. I started to talk
to a salesman there when he got interrupted by a phone call. After 5
minutes or so he got off the phone and said "follow me" so I did. He
took me into this huge warehouse where there had to be at least 50 B3s,
C3s, other Hammonds and Leslies, all used but in never-left-the-home
condition. I was standing there in awe when the guy sez "so, you're
looking for a C3?" I said "no, I just bought one and want to find out
how old it is." He quickly became pissed when he realized I wasn't
there to buy, told me he couldn't help me, and walked away.

I'll never forget the sight of all those mint organs. Unfortunately, I
never got back into that warehouse again. The store is still there, but
I have no idea if they have any B's any more.
