It's a very old piece. The Solovox J&K models date back to the 40's and were originally made to be added onto Steinway and other pianos. Laurens Hammond's original marketing scheme was to have HAMMOND organs sold in all Steinway Piano stores. So, the Solovox was designed as an add-on for the piano market. The first HAMMOND salesmen had station wagons which held a Model A and an ER-20 Tone Cabinet. They demonstrated them in ALL Steinway Dealerships nationwide one-at-a-time (hence the answer to why most Steinway dealers became HAMMOND dealers!). It was a brilliant strategy for the 1930's! The Solovox cabinet is not really worth anything, but it's a neat cabinet worthy of a planter. Al
