[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] using the PRO-3 live
I was wondering if any PRO-3 owners on the list could share experiences with using it in certain live situations. Specifically I am interested in hearing how you dealt with sending the organ output through a mains PA mix, as well as doing live recordings. It seems like it can get a little tricky when sharing the keyboard amp with other keyboard sounds (e.g. piano). I frequently play in rooms where I need to put the organ through the PA, and lately we've been recording every night to ADAT. I should still be able to handle these okay with my Mackie mixer, although I'm going to have to rearrange things a bit. I think the most difficult thing is going to be getting a decent upper/lower mix to the ADAT (they need to be pre-mixed and put on a single channel). Today, I mike the Leslie top and bottom, send a bit of it to my keyboard amp to preview the mix and send the mixed signal to tape. I could bury the PRO-3 somewhere where I won't hear much of its direct sound, but I don't really want to do that. Seems like it'll have to be a trial-and-error thing, unless someone has some good suggestions. Using a separate amp and speaker for the PRO-3 bottom would solve the problem. However, that sort of defeats the whole purpose of the PRO-3. I might as well just use the Leslie if I'm going to carry an extra setup like that. Of course, without having a PRO-3 yet, this is all speculation. It may turn out to be easier (or more difficult) than I'm imagining. So, any insight from current PRO-3 owners? John
