What's wrong with my organ?

Hello, 

Although I subcribe to this group I don't post too much because I don't know 
too much.  Although I try to read most of the post, I am not mechanically 
oriented and I get lost quickly, my eyes glaze over, and I start to say things 
like "Uh.....Huhuh........he said .........organ."

Anyway I am a player who owns a C2 that has been put into a smaller case.  All 
the carpentry work has been done (not by me of course), but it's still not 
playing right.  Here are the problems.

1 signal distorts even at low volumes
2 when vibrato channel is turned on, output volume jumps considerably, when 
coupled with the distortion this is a nasty sound.
3 from what I can hear of the vibrato/chorus the sound is not right.  (I do 
know how it's supposed to sound).  Anyway, without the C3 vibrato I can't get 
that elve-shoveling-coal-into-a-furnace sound that I love.

I realize this could be a number of things, but if I get my repairman to 
pursue them in order from least complex/least expensive to most complex/most 
expensive then I could get this thing up and playing before Christmas.
