Todd wrote: >>While we're on the subject, is the pedal for the XB2 worth the extra cash? I didn't buy one because the price seemed steep, I just used my Ernie Ball pedal and it seems fine. Any comments?<< Todd -- The XB-2 volume pedal is better than any 1/4" in-line pedal. It is specifically designed for the XB-2 and has a DIN-type connector. The audio is handled in a slightly different manner than it is using a 1/4" out with a pedal. We have found that our touring XB-2 players like the factory pedal's ability to NOT alter the tonality of the keyboard output at different volume levels. This is a complaint I hear about some 1/4" pedals, especially powered models. The keyboard gets either brighter or mellower as the volume changes. As information, ALL of our XB-2 touring packages have a factory HAMMOND volume pedal included, even though there are many less-costly alternatives. My decision to include the factory pedal is completely based upon user feedback, plus I prefer to have the ability to send a new pedal out immediately if the it happens to get destroyed or damaged during a show. We have not had a single failure of a HAMMOND volume pedal on any XB2. One band from Nashville had their XB-2 and pedal (inside one of our custom oversize flight cases) fall out of their bus onto a highway at 55 (70!) MPH with other equipment. They plugged in the XB-2 and found that it and the pedal worked just fine. The 88-note Technics Digital Piano didn't fare so well.....neither did the rack mounted amps. Hey, maybe I can do a commercial -- "they take a licking and keep on ticking.." Al
