"DA" == dave amels <dave.amels@sfnet.com> writes about scanner motorboating: DA> Are we sure it's not minerals in the oil. We're talking about DA> really high impedances here. (Just to add more to the stew), I spoke with Jerry Welch (Organ Service Co.) about this. He sez that over oiling can cause the same malady in the scanner as dendrite formation, though the dendrite formation is the worse of the two. (Dendrite is my word/fault - not his). In the case of over oiling the scanner, the oil saturates/coats the insulators and picks up impurites, (could be some of the conductive dendrite material/powder floating around) and shorts out stator poles. It looks the over oiling is a definite aggravating factor. brad baker bpb@cca.rockwell.com
