Re: Fusing a HAMMOND preamp

To: WHEELHEADS

Al,
Since you asked, I'm in the avionics field. The company I work for is a
supplier to OEMs of commercial airliners (among other things). I'm all too
familiar with safety issues. All the points you raise about fusing with
regard to run switches, Leslies, Leslie motors, start motors, run motors,
etc. are all correct and all valid. The scope of my original letter was
confined to fusing only the preamp with regard to a potential fire. You've
expanded well beyond that and bring up good points. I know that liabilites
are major factors in design decisions when it comes to the flying public.
I was hoping things were a little more flexible in organ repair and
modification field, particularly when one reviews the original design and
the period when it took place. Thanks for your response. I hear your
point with respect to our litigious society. I'm staying with my fused
preamp, though.
Frank
