One of my 122's has a "blown" horn driver. I use it to get an overdriven blues/rock sound at reasonable decibel levels. Not a high-tech solution - and somewhat unpredictable - but by experimenting with horn drivers you might find an answer to your question. After all, think of the experimentation that guitarists went through to get their overdriven sounds.
