>When listening to a screaming B3 (or some loud female voices) my right >ear resonates like crazy. At a certain volume, all I hear is static. > >I went to an audiologist, and was told to lay off the caffeine. > Yep! I've experienced this for about 20-plus years, in my left ear. I believe I know exactly what you mean. I didn't know about laying off caffeine. Problem is, I wasn't a caffeine consumer when this problem began. Didn't start drinking coffee and tea until about fifteen years ago. The resonating and static are distracting! My audiologist claimed it was nerve damage in the left ear. This is believable, given the exposure I have had to loud amplifiers, as well as to an incident in which I was hit in the left ear. I would have responsed by private mail to you, but wondered if other list members--musicians and technicians who are no strangers to screaming Hammonds--might have similar afflictions? Good luck! If a notch filter works, and isn't too annoying in terms of what it otherwise does to music, I'd be interesting in hearing about it. I've had pretty good luck by just getting the band used to lower stage volumes, and find it to be good generally for musicianship. KT
