What is "H-111"? -Reply

The H-xxx series of organs are mechanical tone generator consoles
with the usual reverse colored key presets (2 sets). The percussion is
arranged on a series of tabs labeled 'guitar', 'banjo', etc. rather than 2-nd
& 3-rd harmonics like the A,s B's & C's. The vibratio scanner is stereo
i.e. it has two outputs. There is pedal sustain built in. There is no internal
Leslie. The H is most similar to the X-77 except for the animation (vibrato,
etc.). The Hammond 10-12 tone cabinet is the companion to the H-xxx.
Aside from the X-66 and X-77, this is the highest end home type organ
Hammond made. There were a lot of problems with the vibrato
scanners. Hammond made a 'retro-fit' repair kit consisting of a new
vibratio scanner and motor to drive it that was mounted under the shelf
containing the tone generator and completely replaced the vibrato
scanner mounted on the end of the tone generator. One should check to
see if this modification has been made befor considering obtaining this
model. (However, I owned an H-111 and played it for years on a daily
basis and never had any of the reported problems either with the vibrato
or the pedal sustain. It was lost (sadly) in a fire.)
