Wim -- the changes you made should do the trick! Congrats on some excellent detective and tech work. The real advantage of adapting a B-3 preamp for an M3 is the complete retirement of the original preamp / amplifier chassis, especially on early 4-wire speaker models. The secondary advantage, which is almost as important as the first, is the balanced-line preamp output and overall closeness of tone to the B-3. I personally believe this modification is one of the least-utilized sensible modifications in the business as it offers many benefits. M-3's are notoriously cheap. Most very early ones don't even work any longer due to problems in the original amp, so they may be FREE. The weight and size benefits are obvious. Tonally, except for foldback and a few other items, the organs souds like a B-3 as the generator is essentially similar. Wim-- Maybe we can barter for an older AO-28 preamp if you want to push the envelope! Al
