[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] New Orleans Jazz Festival
I just returned from the New Orleans Jazz Festival. This year was the most hammonds I've seen on stage in a long time. The last show I caught this evening was Van Morrison. What a powerful, soulful singer even after all these years. Georgie Fame added a great deal of soul himself on a great looking B-3 with two Leslies. They were miked with a SM-57 on each horn.Couldn't tell what the bass was miked with.May not have even ben miked. One thing was interesting about his setup, the organ and two Leslies were all on a big platform with wheels that the roadies just wheeled out and hooked up. It sure was nice to go to the festival and not see Korgs,Roland,Ensoniq, etc. all over the place. But to see real organs and pianos everywhere. Not to mention how great it all sounded.
