My kingdom for a Diode!

On the 31A Leslie amp I just got I found both 5Z3 tubes bad (B+ power
supply.?.)...and patched in two diodes. B+ came back up , tho' about 225v
instead of the 375v on the schematic. I'm gonna order some tubes..can I leave
the diodes in? (1000v silicone..radio shack)  Everything seems to work. The
amp isn't all that loud but I've heard THAT before. ..and this amp is
supposed to be 10 watts smaller than the 40 watter everyone seems to want to
change. (according to the FAQ this Leslie was built like a 31H but had a
slightly different amp.) So I don't know much about it  except that it has 4
6L6's, but it's probably O.K..
      And with B+ from the Lislie now, the pre-amp works (thanks Ted)
    Thought I'd hold off on using it until I got some input about using the
doides?
..Anyone?
