The voltage rectifier tubes help give you a "soft start" while they warm
up. This keeps the DC from coming in and creaming the capacitors and other
tubes.
The 122 Amp with the OC3 regulator uses diodes, but probably because its a
better regulator tube. To play it safe I would replace the tube rectifiers
as soon as you can get them. They are the cheapest of all tubes. In the
meantime, don't turn it on and off alot.
