[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] Where to shop for clones?
The short version:
Is there any *GOOD* music store in Northern New Jersey or New York City
that I could shop for clone equipment at?
The long version, if you feel like reading gripes:
I went to Sam Ash in Paramus, NJ, to check out clones. I had called
them before and they said they carry XB-2's, Leslie 302C's, could order
122XB's. When I got there, the only Hammond clone -related equipment they
had was a Voce Micro B and a DigiTech RPM-1. The guy hooked up the
Micro B with a weighted keyboard, and plugged headphones into the back
of it. *sigh*
I don't expect a store to have every clone and know everything, but they
didn't even have an XB-2 on the floor, which would have fit nicely
alongside all those synths, which was their main focus. To add to my
frustration, I couldn't even find a MIDI controller I was happy with.
Nor could I even find a 13 note MIDI pedalboard.

+-----------> It's near Jersey City and Newark.
P.S. Yes, Hammond purists, I realize that clones will never sound quite
like the real thing. But, sometimes 'close' is enough until the real thing
becomes practical... Hey, at least it's not chopping. :-)
