The rectangular box upon which your oil-tub sits is the synchronous run
motor. The big round can behind it with all the wires on it is the
vibrato scanner. Sounds like your motor and scanner suffer from dried-up
oil. Do try to get some real Hammond oil - there are folks on the list
that can hook you up with enough to take a bath in if you like... ;-)

I don't know about using 3-in-1 in it...could be harmful to the oil
capillaries. I've used WD-40 to drench the underside of a recalcitrant
L-100 generator with good results, but I wouldn't use it on a B-3 or
something like that unless I was desparate to get one running to play a
gig.

Good luck getting your M up to speed...as for a speaker, nothing beats a
real Leslie. BTW I ran across an original M in a music store recently,
don't know what they wanted for it. It had an attitude - had lotsa click
and grunt for a 1949 spinet Hammond with just a 12" field-coil speaker.
