Re: Another Hammond Run Problem

Thanks for your comments, Dave - I'm already ahead knowing which of the
things is the motor, and finally a clue as to what a vibrato scanner
is. I had the round thing as the motor, and the square motor as some
kind of gearbox. WRONG!

After looking at the things more closely, I think maybe the problem involves
the oiling threads which should connect on the flywheel side of the motor
to the oil reservoir. They have been broken, and I think they may be
wrapping themselves around the shaft. Of course, I broke the other three
on the scanner side trying to empty the 3-in-1 oil out. Can't see any way
to replace them without some surgical tecnique I don't have! Now I have
two motor bearings without oil threads! Guess I'll just oil and reassemble
for now and see if that is the problem. Can the threads be replaced?

Anyway, thanks for your help. I'll follow up on the manuals and the oil.
By the way, I live in Ames, Iowa, which is about 40 miles from Des Moines.
There is an organ service shop there, but I'm not sure this organ is worth
a service call unless I can get it running otherwise. If I can, and it
doesn't fall apart somewhere else, maybe it would be worth new tubes and
whatever the thread cure would be. I bought it from a friend who told
me it needed a new switch, but he didn't know any more about it than I do!

Again, Thanks!
