Re: Shure mics

>>Is the Shure SM-57 a decent mic to use with the B-3/Leslie ?

This weekend, I recorded a few tracks for a gospel choir on my L100
w/Leslie 760. I tried to get hold of a local C3/147 combination, but failed
:( so I went into the studio expecting to get a pretty boring sound. But, I
was wrong.

The studio tech hooked up two SM57's to the horn, and a single very
expensive (don't know the type) capacitor mike that he also used for solo
vocals to the bass rotor. Seeing the cap mike, that looked like it was
pretty sensitive, I was VERY surprised when the guy came into the room and
asked me to "play LOUD!!!" I ended up having to use earplugs because I was
WAY too loud for my own good. (9th drawbar on 8 at full blast... OUCH...)
But man, my L sounded good on tape; far better than I ever dreamt of. The
quality of my playing is another story, though... :)

I strongly recommend the SM57.

        All the best,
        Magnus
