Hammond Clock Help

I went to a garage sale on my block today. I scored big time:

Hammond Clock

The clock needs a little bit of help. It only works if its upside down, 
and in this position it makes the same kind of buzz a magnetic door 
opener makes. 

Any thoughts besides replacing the mechanism? That would be like 
putting DX7s in a Hammond case.
