In a message dated 96-12-19 02:45:20 EST, you write: << Someone on the list asked a good question about if the crossover caps in a Leslie need to be replaced. I would like to see other experts other than Al Goff and Bob S.who consistantly answer the questions. It seems latley people want to use this list to solicit buisness to buy organs and other instruments but will not take any time out to help people. I guess its ok to loot something but not put a dimes worth of effort to maintain something . If their is nothing in it for me then the hell with it. Is that the attitude? Well here is my attitude, if you want to be known for what you buy and sell on this list then spend some time contributing to it and helping the people on it, or dont waiste our time. >> Tony, I've posted several messages on here regarding degraded Leslie output; with little or no response. I'm noticing more and more Leslies with grungy output and, after much bench time and experimenting, have also realized that a lot of the problems lie in the crossover. Houses like MCM Electronics and Parts Express have some good crossover-applicable coil and capacitor lines--probably for the ever-expanding car stereo market. We've built up a few crossovers with these components and have had pretty good results. With new tubes and balanced caps and resistors under the amp, there's little else that can go wrong, other than the output xfmr and the output system. I hang on to the old "square-back" 15s and put high-rated emenence parts into them--16 ohm at 150 watt. We're still looking for a decent treble driver because, as you know, the Jensen parts are next to impossible to locate anymore. Emenence makes a driver that seems to do a pretty good job without exaggerating things like the inherent crosstalk and key click and, believe it or not, so does MG (available thru MCM Electronics). As we cpntinue our late-night experiments I'll keep everyone posted. Bruce
