However, Nu-Jol mineral oil is what was >recommended to me by factory years ago. James: I recently purchased a HR40 and had to move it on its side. I knowledgably pitched it over and let the Hammond oil run out of the reverb unit. Refill is a pain in the butt. I recommend the Automatic Transmission Fluid (per Sal Azz, not power steering fluid). I used mineral oil, but don't think I'm getting as long a delay in my reverb as I should. That's after filling it to precisely the level on the instructions. It's tough to fit tubing in between the reverb springs and the tube walls. I had to use a plastic syringe (lucky to get one from a chemist at work) and tygon tubing. The mineral oil is viscous and hammond oil (or ATF is probably lighter). You can probably get the filler bulb and the oil fairly cheap from Al Goff. All stuff ordered on his web page is getting a healthy discount. Don't worry about the speakers. Wipe em off and the'll dry out after a while. The amp has a built in heater in the form of 12 vacuum tubes. Try this amp out before you refill it. The long delay time sound wicked on certain tunes. Spinning and sproinging in S.C. "Walkin' Wolk"
