The automotive substitutes like ATF have the advantage of being readily available worldwide, and to be recommended by the major auto makers will have most certainly been tested in a wide range of hostile environments (tho probably not lowreys or rogers) as well as for durability and stability over time, and in applications a lot rougher than a HTC. Is there a chemist on the list that might be able to compare the Nu-Jol oil formulation with ATF or PSF scientifically? While we're at it, how about brake fluid? I've seen VW brake fluid that is a clear, non-compressible mineral oil which appears to have viscosity comparable to ATF and PSF. Thanks - I always wondered what the 'real stuff' was for the reverb tubes. mhs
