hip Christian bands with Hammonds

> 9. D.C. Talk (A great new Christian Rock Band with a huge following; not
> just for the religious!)

Actually, they've been around a while! I witnessed their first ever show
at my church about ten years ago when they were a teenage pop/rap trio
with turntables and a TB303 background. Since then, I've seen them play
sell-out shows at major venues throughout the world as talented
musicians. Their backup band's organ has this embossed "DC Talk" logo on
it, and appears to be grey (from a distance, at least). Very cool
looking, but underused.

Another great Christian rock group is Three Crosses (on the Benson
label). Actually, they were the ones who really got me interested in
Hammond to begin with. We (jlm) shared a stage with them at Fishnet '96
last summer back when I had my Yamahas. When I was taking my synths
down, and Barrientos was setting up his 122, XB-2, and Rhodes... I knew
that I was completely shown up! :) We talked for a few minutes after
their set, and I vowed then and there to give up synths and get a
Hammond. I can't wait to see him again! Since they are only a 3-piece
group, so Barrientos does all of the bass stuff on the Hammond, as well
as some incredible chord work and solos.

Jars of Clay (another world-famous one) uses a C-3/147 (I think) in the
studio, and an XB-2/860 on tour. However, Charlie Lowell relies too
heavily on the sounds his Kurzweil and drum machines can make, rather
than the beautiful Hammond (in my opinion).

Audio Adrenaline ("the next DC Talk") also has a Hammond that records
with them on occasion, but they didn't appear to have one with them at
Fishnet '96.
