Ian,
Your query "maybe they shine live?" in regards to Phish. Yes they do!  
Like you I wasn't to big a fan having only listened to one album. They 
came to town(Seattle) and borrowed some of our equipment to record with 
and in return we were invited to hang out both for recording and the 
show. Page just tore it up on his Goff Proff/Hammond B-3!
