[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index] A first - Organ louder than Guitar
Last night I went to see "Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow" at a bar near here. Rainbow being the band the legendary guitarist formed after leaving Deep Purple. Much to my surprise, the keyboardist's XB2/142 rang loud and clear the whole concert, while I often had difficulty hearing the guitar. This was not due to my positioning - I was in front of the guitar stacks, on the opposite side of the stage from the Leslie. The organ sounded awesome on the old Deep Purple standards that they played. Being that Blackmore is known for his outstanding lead work, but not much for accompaniment, I suppose he's happy to let the keyboard player do a lot of the work. But still, it's the first time I've seen a rock concert where the organ blew away the guitarist (in volume, not talent).
