Don't know if one of the current fashions over here has spread across the
pond, that being the retro-sixties revival (and in many respects you
should be glad if it hasn't!) but one thing it has done is reawaken
interest in the Hammond. It's cropping up everywhere, as people are
crying out for some authentic (and dare I say it - cheesy?) retro sounds,
which the hammond can supply amply. Which is great for hammond fans like
me. It's getting everywhere, especially, as has been noted, on late night
talk shows.

The current 'acid jazz' style of music is making great use of the hammond,
probably best exemplified by the James Taylor Quartet, probably the best
(and one of the most famous) acid jazz combos around, but the organ can be
found lurking on recordings by bands like Jamiroquai, if you listen hard
enough!

(Though give me a bit of Jimmy Smith any day and I'll be happy. Damn!)
