Make sure it doesn't catch fire like the Fiero... Since a portable is all about saving weight, a new cabinet is the way to go anyway. Get as wild as you feel! I'm building a modular chop (top manual+ preamp, lower manual, generator) using an aluminum subframe for mechanical strength, and a lightweight Kevlar skin. It's sort of like a Pontiac Fiero - it can run without the outer casing, so you can get to everything to calibrate, etc. while it's on.
