Hi! What a story!! I'm sorry for all your troubles and I hope everything will work out fine in the end. I'm not an hammond expert so can't answer all your hammond questions, but concerning the tubes: lighting up very intense for a second when turned on, I can assure you that this is perfectly normal. It is sort of a safety device used in European tubes to reduce effects of "turn-on-currents". This is not equally common in U.S tubes why we Europeans get a good laugh when our tubes scare you with it's intense light :-) Thus, No need to worry! European tubes have a different type numbering. The are labeled with letters and numbers, eg. E C L G Z 34 80 81 82 83 84 ... example: 12ax7 is equal to ECC83 where E stands for 6.3 volt heater CC stands for double triode. 83 is just s type number. If you search the web for vaccum tubes you'll find a lot of info on different tubes and usually they are all filed under both U.S and European names, so you can easily make out which ones that are the same. Good luck! Kristofer Kjörling
